Petty Disguise

iScriblr_poem_sadness

I have wandered through sadness,
lost hope and failed,
Allied with despair and befriended hate.

With dark clouds,
gloomy skies and hopelessness to my release,
I have cried a million tears of disbelief.

Walking habitually through the boulevards of broken dreams,
I have been mislaid,
my faith did dim.

Shambled, broken and incurably dejected,
Full of remorse,
my life has always been misguided and defeated.

My existence has been cruel,
I have paid the price,
The smile that you see today is just another petty disguise!

When “STARS” Fall – Suicide Awareness

Disclaimer – Today’s post is nowhere close to be a “hunky dory” affair! Unlike my usual self, today, I will be talking about hard facts, distressing depression and suicides!

TRIGGER WARNING – This article, or pages it links to, contains images and information about suicide which may be upsetting to some people.

iScriblr_stop_suicide

It’s been a while that I have been meaning to write about this. But thanks (no thanks) to my allergies, terrible teeth ailment and being constantly under the effects of antibiotics and painkillers, I somehow wasn’t able to muster the courage and strength to write about such a “sensitive” topic. Well, the “final nail in the coffin” was yesterday’s news, that once again shook the world. “Kate Spade – who created an iconic, accessible handbag line that bridged Main Street and high-end fashion, hanged herself in an apparent suicide Tuesday at her Manhattan apartment.”
Ah, another sad demise! Another life, lost too soon! Another painful reminder that we never truly know another’s pain or the burden they carry! *shudders in a corner*

Too Busy To Take Care Of Yourself?

Hey Everyone! I hope y’all are having a great day. It’s time to kill the blues with some Real Talk and SELF CARE!

It’s a crazy life – with numerous twists and turns and constant battles. Ah, responsibilities, obligations, liabilities – different names but equally taxing exposures, taking a toll on our lives and us! *sighs*
With overwhelming duties at work, million chores at home and a jam-packed calendar with overdue tasks – there is little to no time left for us and our life. Well, stressing out on burdens, missing deadlines and traumatizing our metal and emotional health not only leads us to a “self-sabotaging” state but also, little by little deteriorates the idea of “self-being”. All in all making things worse!

Stop Justifying Your Feelings

iScriblr_justify

Ah, justifications! Too many, too little, who knows? Let’s be honest folks – We’ve all given justifications in our lifetime – sometimes necessary and required but most of the times, we go overboard with it, disproportionately, superfluously. Justification (in simple terms) means – explaining who you are, why you are who you are, why you believe what you believe, why you did what you did and why you said what you said. In short, it is clarifying and defining why and how you live! *shakes head in disappointment*

How I Got My Spark For Life Back!

iScriblr_get_your_spark_back

We all know about my life story – The story about changing countries, marital status and job profile, all at once! (Things happen, you see!) From being a career oriented woman to “just” a home-maker and from being a “happy-go-lucky” spirit to a “down-trodden” mortal – “LIFE” sure did storm in like a “tsunami!”
Well, that was then! Thankfully, things changed for good. Post some dark clouds and silver linings, with abounding struggles and exertion, I realized – “this is how life is supposed to be – with some obvious highs and lows” and every accompanying struggle and uncertainty is a permanent baggage that we ALL carry. No escape! Period.

I did what I was supposed to do – I shook off all the deep-rooted fears and eluded apprehensions and limiting beliefs, to finally regain my peace of mind and sparkle. I agree, it’s been an uphill task to say the least, with abundant apprehensions and trails. But once I realized that “I was the master of my own fate” – it was easy for me to “channelize” my thoughts, energy and diligence towards achieving what I’d lost (or thought I’d lost!)

Give Yourself Time

Photo from Nicolette of Wilder Child

Fascinating, enthralling, prismatic – that’s how we see a butterfly. With colours and patterns so extraordinarily exquisite, a butterfly is a display to be smitten with and admire. But, was a butterfly always so beauteous? Was it always so beckoning?
Well, I used to think I knew how caterpillars become butterflies. You know, going through the regular process of metamorphosis – they weave cocoons around them, then sit inside growing six long legs, four wings, and so on, before emerging as a beautiful, winged creature. Well, as it turns out – I was so WRONG!

No More Excuses!

iScriblr_excuses

“I don’t really have the time.”

“It is too scary to take the risk!”

“What will people say?”

“I don’t know how to?”

“It could have worked but I had no money”

Ah! Excuses! Well yes, these are the most familiar of excuses that we all are guilty of! Instead of pushing ourselves to achieve our goals, we take the easy route of “making excuses!” Yes!!!!!! an easy, effortless way out! Excuses, people – can be a very dangerous thing, pretty intense – as it holds us back and leaves us stuck in a vicious cycle of deferment and delay.

Have you ever tied to explain why you didn’t, couldn’t, shouldn’t or just wouldn’t do something? In all honesty, I have! (and a lot many times than once!) Fear of failure, worrying about added responsibilities, perceived lack of self belief and confidence, fear of change – the reasons are abundant and varied, paralyzing us and leaving us stranded in a “no man’s land!” Believe me when I say that all of this negative self talk gets us nowhere. Broken dreams, crippled self-esteem, fragmented hope –  the damage is more than you can account for!

Show Your True Colors

How often do we find ourselves doing things just because we have to and not because we want to? And yes, I am not talking about the hard work aimed to achieve success at jobs or the efforts to provide for your family. I’m referring to the things we do just to please others and to project a certain image of ourselves to the world that isn’t even coherent with who we really are! How often have we worn a “mask” awaiting approval of our family, friends, colleagues or even the auntie next door? And unquestionably, it is hard to live your best lives, when “best” is defined by someone else!

“There just isn’t any pleasing some people. The trick is to stop trying.”
Robert Mitchum
