We All Grow At Different Rates And That’s OK!

Hey Everyone! Hope y’all are doing wonderful? I am back again with my FRIYAY motivation and some REAL TALK!

Folks, don’t you think that there are times when you read (see) something and it straight away pulls at your heart, evoking memories, arousing recollections – reminding you of your long forgotten chapters of life? Some random quotes, some accidental lines, and you are back again at the corridors of time and tide.

Well, that is what I exactly experienced (in all it’s force) when I stumbled upon this particular quote while (as always) doing nothing on Facebook –

“We all grow at different rates and that’s OK!”

Such simple words, with an invaluable lesson for life!

Confession Time – This quote took me back to the times, when I have literally cursed myself for not being “at par” with my colleagues and subordinates at work, without realizing that we all have different “growth-curves” and unique learning capabilities. Sadly, without even considering that there is no competition when it comes to learning, I was in a “self-sabotage” state, where my idea to excel in life was ruining my personal growth and mutilating my peace of mind! *shrugs*
It was then (almost 10+ years back) that I came across these wise words, and YES, it was time for me to pause and reflect; and to STOP myself from comparing my GROWTH with people around me!

FACT

Unfortunately, we all suffer from the act of comparing ourselves to other person’s achievements, belittling ourselves and demeaning our efforts. Yes, we all are guilty of despising ourselves, dissing our endeavors at some point in our lives. *bitter truth*

One of the easiest ways to feel bad about oneself is to compare ourselves critically to others. We are tempted to measure ourselves with those who have more accomplishments, seem more attractive, make more money, have more followers/likes or boast more (aka our Facebook friends!)
Undoubtedly, comparison is scarring and it eats away our ability to be content and confident about ourselves!

GOOD NEWS

The truth is, everyone grows at different rates and that’s absolutely okay! Everything happens in divine and perfect timing and we just have to trust in our growth and believe in ourselves. Remember, life has insightful lessons to teach – learn them your way, at your own pace.
Cherish your uniqueness! You have your own set of characteristics, skills, dreams and goals that makes you different from anyone else. Embrace them and don’t be embarrassed by who you are and how much time you take to learn something! Believe in your own self and remember that you are capable and worthy – just as much as anyone else, regardless of what you’ve achieved, regardless of what mistakes you’ve made!

“Stop thinking you’re doing it all wrong. Your path doesn’t look like anybody else’s because it can’t, it shouldn’t, and it won’t.”
― Eleanor Brownn

Remind yourself (on a daily basis) of the little achievements and milestones you’ve already accomplished and take the time to look back and appreciate yourself, and all of your little victories, no matter how big or small. Be grateful for the successes you have already won, and you shall attract more to you.

“An authentic and genuine life grows like a sturdy tree. And like a tree, it grows slowly. Every time you make a different and better decision, it grows a little. Every time you choose to do the right thing, even when nobody would find out otherwise, it grows a little. Every time you act with compassion, relinquish your right to strike back, take a courageous stand, admit fault or accept responsibility, it grows a little.”
― Steve Goodier

Here’s to a new blooming and thriving YOU! Cheers!

      1. Oh it does ……… Self doubt makes us compare ourselves to others but then Einstein said “If you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree …it’ll spend its entire life believing that it is stupid.
Each of us are unique in our own way.

    1. Hahaha.. Thanks love! I think its inclining a little more towards to eloquent side! 😉

  1. A good reminder here. It happens occasionally when we compare our growth with other people, unfortunately for us, like you said the bitter truth always comes out 😀. Have a fun filled Friday, I almost missed this day somehow😉💞

  2. Beautiful post 👌 and I couldn’t agree more… we should remind ourself of the little achievements and milestones we’ve accomplished and be grateful for everything we have. Life is too short to be comparing ourselves with others 😊

  3. Good one…Nicely penned✍️.. bt if one could learn how to step out from this competitive world than he/she would probably be successful than anyone others. The main thing is we don’t know how to step out..BTW..

    1. Thanks much!

Changing your life begins by changing your mindset and perception towards it – Once you realize that you are the master of your own fate and you are unique in your own ways – Life for sure gets a little easier to deal with!
Remember, if you keep telling yourself you’re not good, regularly – you might just start believing it, even though it’s not true – augmenting your disappointment in yourself. Try countering your negative thoughts with positive ones. Believe in yourself! By working on replacing negative self-talk with more positive self-talk, you’re more likely to feel in control of stuff that’s going on in your life and to achieve your goals.✌️😃❤

      1. I didn’t mean all that. Bt I know “I’m a man of my own kind.”. 😉..😊.

  4. Love the quote and the picture! 🙂

Such an important life lesson that we’re all still learning and taking in babysteps each and every day. Beautiuflly written and a wonderful post of encouragement.❤️

  5. As a teacher I find that I’m the one being taught by my students. I decided a while ago that if I ever stopped them or refused to find purpose in their teaching I would have to walk away. Every day you have the opportunity to learn something new. Teacher or student. And as long as you keep yourself open to whatever it is you are discovering, you won’t stop growing. And that, to me, is the basis for a happy, healthy, satisfying life. 💕 Thank you for this! 😘
