Patient Number 3 – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_tltweek174

Misplaced in the tides of time and measure,
he'd forfeited more than he could have ever imagined.

His flamboyantly audacious nature did no good,
and at last he was paying the price.

From the "Casanova" that he used to be, to just a number that he'd become -
life comes a full circle, it spares no one!

Fake Advertising – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_tltweek163

It was a deal of her lifetime,
the one she wished not to refuse;
selling off her soul to the advertising "devil"
in hopes of "fake-positive" reviews.

Deceiving and defrauding society
was now closely associated with her name;
conning, swindling the innocents,
she became the best at the infamous fraud game.

Life comes with it's own terms and conditions,
alas, she'd forgotten;
all that glitters is not always gold,
sometimes the offer expires and treaties are broken!

"Hurry up Gretel! You know we aren't supposed to be outside!"
muttered fearful Hansel;
alarmed by his sister's sudden recklessness.

Realizing that all his previous warnings were too sloppy
in front of the evident danger that lied ahead,
he once again exclaimed; this time with painful tears in his eyes,
"I'm telling you, this won't end good sissy.. She'll eat us alive..!"

Oblivious to the obvious crisis,
callously jumping off the water-side pebbles,
Gretel playfully giggled and said,
"Not this time Hans.. I'm sure, I've locked the oven lid tightly!
The witch is gonna burn!"

Ghosts In The Machine – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_tltweek138

A ghost of a woman jumping out of the background of the television shows,
an outstretched hand reaching out from the black murk
beyond the screen of an unplugged television,
double images, fog, sound distortion, white noise
and strange static patterns,
Mary had encountered it all.

As described by the paranormal researchers who'd rushed to the scene,
this was a typical case of "Instrumental Trans-Communication"
where the ghosts and spirits were trying to communicate
with the living through a TV-like medium;
flying through the airwaves, vaulting into our lives.

Are our TVs really a sort of potential portal between these realms,
or did Mary go a little overboard
with her bingeing of "Stranger Things" on Netflix?

The House Of Horrors – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_tltweek137

"It's a steal Jack! Who sells a f*****g 5 bedroom,
3.5 acre lake-view mansion for just $250K?"
said an over enthusiastic Ally,
her obvious excitement over the rooftop,
as she signs the dotted line.

It was a dream property
that they couldn't have afforded in a million years,
had it not been for a sudden drop in its price
after it was unanticipatedly foreclosed by the bank.

Little did Alley know that "The House Of Horrors"
is not just an "Urban Legend"
her girl friends gossiped about!

"We've got 24 hours before they burn them all down! Hurry up!"
announced Sue to a group of new recruits of the "Resistance Army",
amidst ramming murmurs and cramming whispers.

Their task - To memorize and protect
the world's greatest literary and cultural works,
before the "firemen" arrive.

 Alas, year 2069 AD marks an annulment of literature by the "mass media",
where the books are outlawed,
and any allurement of libraries is extinct!

The Theory Of Karma – In Other Words

iScriblr_smoking

Forsaken, disowned and dejected, with not one person by his side,
Sam lived a life that no wise man would want.

His only companion - the miserable, disgraceful memories to haunt.

Every night he would curse himself
for his dishonorable deeds of the past, realizing that
all his life he's been nothing more than a hateful cheat,
a scandalous swindler, an outcast.

"You reap what you sow" is a phrase he now often recalls.

Yes, it's a proven fact - every fallacious man befalls!

When Two Worlds Collide – Three Line Tales

iScriblr_week134

"Once in 50 God-damn years!" Rob whispers, teary-eyed,
staring at an old-crinkled photograph of him and his daughter,
who had gone missing when she was just 5, only to be found dead later.

With innumerable agonizing questions, untold doubts and
infinite unbearable complains,
he had waited for this day all his life;
the day when the heavens subside and two worlds collide,
of living and the dead.

"Ah, here we are!" he exclaims,
as he takes his final step towards the "portal to another dimension"
hoping to embrace his little girl once again.

Crime Scene – Three Line Tales

This was a crime scene straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock's movie - broken doors,
bloodied canvas, scattered objects d'art, burglarized safe
and a blood-soaked bare corpse.

"Was your wife an artist?" asked the stern copper, looking around,
investigating the multi-hued blood splatter in the in-house art room,
confirming - "forced entry with intent to rob and rape."

With tears in his eyes, despair all over his face
and little Susie and Chuck by his side,
Ben replied, "Yes, the best one in the country!"
